Image Plan
My main image will be of a band made up of three members. The band is called Crisis City and they are a new up and coming band with a few hit songs and are becoming widely recognised. My models will be Myself, Kristian Harrison and Greg Latham
I will shoot my photos within school grounds. The shoot will be in any classroom available that has a white board or a projector. This is because the white background will be easy to erase and place any other colour or scene behind it.
In the photo the band will be looking off into the distance showing that they are focusing on their music and that they never stop producing top music. The lead singer will be shushing into the camera to give off the effect of that the band is better than all the others and should listen to them and nobody else.

Language and register
Language and register is the way the magazine addresses the
reader. For example a magazine that is read by teenagers likes ‘Kerrang’ and
‘NME’ the language would be informal and colloquial, whereas a magazine like
‘VOGUE’ and ‘VIBE’ would be formal and professional. It is important to me that
I use the correct language and register as the audience would instantly take a
dislike to it if they cannot relate to it. My magazine is more in the style of Kerrang
and NME which means it will be more likely to use swearing and slang on the
cover and throughout.
Representation
Representation is what you get off of an object once you have seen and reviewed it. This gives you a brief or detailed summary of what it stands for and why it has done it.
My magazine repersents the little guy. It speaks for all the bands that don't make it into the chartys and rarley gets mentioned. This is because it is different to magazines like 'NME' and 'Q' as there is a niche market open in my magazines genre. My magazine is massively influenced by representation as it will show exatly what my target audience is about and will take into consideration on what their views are.

School magazine names
- Monday 2 Friday – down with the kids but also lets parents know what they’ve done each day.
- Learning iz Earning – It shows kids that they are learning to make money and also show their parents that they are teaching future adult knowledge.
- Your days are numbered – Adds a humour factor to make the students read on and also let’s parents see that the school is for the kids and are helping the students further.
- L.O.L (learning outside lessons) – Gives text slang which kids will interpret.
I have chosen L.O.L as it is the best one to use as the children will relate to that title the most as they will use ’LoL’ themselves in real life and or in texts. The connotations of this would be that it’s childish, youthful and informal, just like children.

Cover Image
In my image I will use a picture that is relevant to my main title. For instance if my title is girls netball win 1st I will use a picture of the girls netball team in action and not somebody sitting on a bench. It will be a medium close up shot, this is a photo of a students face and half of there body. I will use this shot type as it can see the pupils face and the school badge to see what school they go to. There will be a calm grass field in the background to enforce a connotation of a relaxing and quiet school life. I will take the shot from eye line as this shows that the school treats the pupils equal and on the same levels as others. Won’t be making eye contact as they will be deep into what they are doing and imposes as a connotation as it will show that the school keeps the students busy with work and schooling stuff. There will be a prop in his hand to show that he is busy with work. The headline will be related to the picture to draw the reader in. the image will be the main spot on the front cover and everything will be based on around the image. I will edit the image to give it a professional look to it to make readers will use connotations to assume that it is a professional and authentic magazine.

Semiotics to images and text
Semiotics to images and text
Semiotics are the study of signs and symbols, it is a way of
understanding the literal and the possible meanings of images and words e.g.
The colour red is described as danger or love, passion when really it’s just
the colour red. These are called denotations and connotations.
Denotations are the literal or obvious meaning of the image
or text. It is what you actually see.
For example: when people see an image of Lindsay Lohan. They
think of drugs, alcoholic or even disgusting.
They label her for what she’s done wrong. This is the connotation of the
image. But really it’s just a picture of Lindsay Lohan drinking. This is the
denotation of the image.
People will take into account on the camera angle of the
shot. Is it close up? Focused on one thing to single out exactly the image is
showing e.g. the amount of glasses in Ms Lohan’s area subconsciously makes you
thing that she’s an alcoholic. Even the clothes she’s wearing in the picture.
Is it revealing? Is it trendy? Has the person lost touch in style? It raise’s
too many questions by focusing on the clothes as people will judge other people
on their appearance. If you catch a person blinking it could make them seem
drunk in the picture. Ms Lohan has her eyes closed and a distorted smile which
people would describe her as drunk. But she may just of blinked or sneezing in
the shot but even when they don’t know people will still stereotype the
picture.
Semiotics for text is the same, just labelling text for its
size, shape or even the femininity of the word itself e.g. ‘bliss’ isn’t going
to be a car magazine for over 40’s. People will connotations for text to.
Magazine titles should make sense to the aim of the publication. It should make
sense to the reader but also give them an idea about the magazines aspirations.

Genre Conventions
Genre Conventions
A genre is a category that the media product is placed in.
E.g. ‘Eastenders’ is in the soap opera genre. Audiences will have particular
expectations of media products in a genre because of the conventions it uses.
This is because conventions are elements that are repeated in products in the
same genre. This is stereotypical moments that happen in every average genre.
E.g. cliff hangers are used at the end of soap operas.

Define the target audience for the school magazine.
The school’s magazine is targeted to its stake holders as it’s designed to please them all. Its Primary audience is the students, this is because they will be the first to read and will have to impress them to make them read the articles about other students that the pupils may read and then talk about. The Secondary audience is the parents of the students; it’s designed for the parents as they want to keep in touch with what the school is doing to help their children and what they are achieving. Finally its tertiary audience is up and coming year 8’s and their parents to see exactly what this school has to offer and whether it is acceptable for the future pupils.
