Genre Conventions

Genre Conventions

A genre is a category that the media product is placed in. E.g. ‘Eastenders’ is in the soap opera genre. Audiences will have particular expectations of media products in a genre because of the conventions it uses. This is because conventions are elements that are repeated in products in the same genre. This is stereotypical moments that happen in every average genre. E.g. cliff hangers are used at the end of soap operas.
Over and out.
